Karl and Sally Olsson were injured in an automobile accident Thursday, November 30. We have heard that Sally is at home recuperating from broken ribs and that K.O. is still in the hospital. He suffered multiple fractures and his condition is serious. We hope that both of these dear people will be mending well by the time you receive this issue. For readers who do not know about Karl and Sally, they have been Covenant heroes for a long time. Among other things, they shared the North Park President’s residence while K.O. wrote books, gave brilliant lectures, preached powerful sermons, and ran North Park College, Chicago.

Conrad Bergendoff, former President of Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois celebrated his 100th birthday on December 3. The current issue of The Swedish-American Historical Quarterly is a special number: “Aspects of Augustana and Swedish America, Essays in Honor of Dr. Conrad Bergendoff’s 100th Year.” It is an excellent issue. The Swedish-American Historical Society’s address is 5125 North Spaulding Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60625.

The Music Commission of First Covenant Church of St. Paul, Minnesota has made a $500 contribution to Pietisten to establish The J. Irving Erickson Memorial Fund. The money will be used to support the writing of articles on music and other musical endeavors. We appreciate this generous gift and the musical coverage it will foster.

In the next issue there will be another report in the “Adventures of Young Travellers Series” and another episode in the life of Johann Sebastian Bach by Don Franklin.

We hope this issue reaches you before Christmas. We take comfort in the expectation that you will receive it during the twelve days of Christmas and before the New Year. We wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy New year! — The Editors
