Get Shorty

Get Shorty
His moves are cool, deliberate,
Without hesitation.
Chili solicits your attention
By his concentrated stare.
He refuses to lose to losers
And will give no slack or advantage
To the cold, caustic reflex.

And finally when the mountains
of might push him to the wall,
He smiles in the face of injury and insult,
A victor of raucous foibles.

When the lights come on
We rise from out seats,
Barely able to contain the timidity
Of our ordinary ways.
