Going to Wisconsin
Dedicated to my dear grandfather
Chapter 1: Getting Ready
At dinner that night, Zach, Jake, and Cale were talking about going to Wisconsin.
"I can’t wait to go sledding,” said Cale.
“Neither can I,” Zach and Jake responded.
After dinner, all three of them started packing. “Be sure to pack warm clothes,” their mother told them.
After they finished packing, their dad told them to go to bed. “We have to get up at 4:00 am you know.”
In the morning they woke up at the sound of Zach’s alarm. They all got dressed and went downstairs to help load their mini-van. “We’ll get something to eat on the way,” said their mother. On the way, they had a few arguments like who had more room, or he’s on my side. It took a long time to get to Wisconsin. At last they finally arrived. Their grandparents came out to greet them. They started to unload their stuff.
“You boys will sleep downstairs,” said their grandpa.
"When can we go sledding?” they asked.
Chapter 2: Sledding
As soon as they finished unloading, they put on their winter clothes to go sledding. There were big hills perfect for sledding. The bad thing about the hills is you have to walk back up them. When they got to the top, they were tired. Zach went down in the snowtube.
"It goes fast,” yelled Zach. The Jake and Cale went down.
“That was fun,” said Cale. "Let's do it again.” They barely made it up that time. After they went down again, they decided to go down the little hill by the play house. When they slid down, they ran into the snowbanks along the driveway. They kept sledding until it was time for supper.
Chapter 3: Kari and Jann
After supper, they just relaxed awhile. Soon Kari and Jann arrived. Kari and Jann are their cousins. They were glad they came, too. Kari and Jann unloaded their stuff and put it downstairs with them.
“Mom,” Kari asked, "can we go sledding on the little hill?”
“Sure,” said her mom. So Kari, Zach, Jake, Jann, and Cale put on their winter clothes to go sledding. It took them awhile, but they were finally ready. Kari slid down on an orange sled and slid into a snowbank.
“That was fun!” Kari squeaked.
They all sledded until it was time for bed. They spread out their sleeping bags and went to sleep.
Chapter 4: The Fort
The next day they woke up because Higgins (Kari and Jann’s dog) woke them up. They made their sleeping bags, got dressed, and went upstairs for breakfast. After they were done, they went downstairs to pick up the basement. They folded blankets, fixed the pillows on the couch, and picked up their toys. Jann, Jake, and Cale went outside. Kari and Zach stayed inside and played Game Boy. After awhile, they went outside. When they got out, Jann, Jake, and Cale were building a fort. They were almost finished. Then Zach, Jake, and Cale’s dad asked if they wanted a sleigh ride. Kari and Zach stayed at the house.
Chapter 5: The Rides
After awhile, they came back for Kari and Zach. When they were in the pasture, it got bumpy. Kari started to get a headache from the bumps. They started going up a hill, but they got stuck. They all got out to help push. After they were free, they went back to the house for supper. For supper they had barbecue. Zach, Jake, and Cale’s Uncle Todd, and Kari and Jann’s Uncle Rob thought about giving them a snowmobile ride. Jann, Jake, and Cale went first. Zach went before Kari. When he got back, he said he saw a skunk.
“Did he smell?” questioned Kari.
“He smelled bad!” gagged Zach.
Finally it was Kari’s turn. Her dad took her on the scariest trails and the steepest hills. By then it was time for bed.
Chapter 6: Leaving
The next day it was time to leave, so they got dressed and had a little breakfast. Later, they would stop at Perkins. After they were done, they went downstairs to pack. Kari, Zach, Jann, Jake, and Cale got their toys together. Zach dropped his football cards. Kari and Jann made sure they had all of their accessories to their Game Boy.
Kari couldn’t find all of her games. So Kari, Zach, Jake, Jann, and Cale looked all over the basement. They found all of the games but no earphones. Kari went out to the jeep and looked for her earphones. She only found Jann’s. She went upstairs, and there were her earphones in her suitcase. She went downstairs to tell everyone.
When everyone was finished packing, they loaded up their vehicles, said good-bye to their grandparents, and were off to Perkins. They would meet there to eat.
Chapter 7: Perkins
It was about a half-hour drive to get there. On the way, Kari and Jann’s uncle, aunt, and cousins passed them in their mini-van. Their uncle made a funny face, Kari and Jann’s dad called them the cheese head family because they were in Wisconsin.
They all stopped at a gas station to get gas. Kari and Jann made a funny face at their cousins. They made a face back.
Soon they arrived at Perkins. Kari, Zach, and Cale ordered omelets. After they were done, they got some muffins for the trip home.
Kari and Jann’s cousins were going to stop and see their aunt and uncle in Chicago. They said good-bye and went home.
