The very fine eulogy on Elder Lindahl overlooked his love for skiing. He encouraged me to take it up in my 50s, when he was still skiing in his 70s. We shared membership at Libertyville Covenant Church in Illinois, when he and Muriel taught us how to make potato sausage, and then gifted their Swedish ram’s horn sausage maker to us when they retired to Minnesota. It’s proudly displayed in our kitchen today. I think of him every time I see it. Elder was a lively wonderful gift.

As always, I sat down and read my beloved Pietisten from cover to cover the day it arrived. I am so thankful to receive it each time. I wanted to add a testimony in memory of Elder Lindahl. I came to North Park College fresh out of the Navy, and particularly Vietnam, in the fall of 1966, and was blessed to have Elder for one of my courses. In a very confusing time in my faith and political development, Elder mentored me through several issues. Having served in the Army, he could help me understand the crazy difference between my recent four-year military life, and the sometimes ungrateful reception by fellow students. I will forever thank the Lord for this gentle and humble servant we, as a Covenant family, were privileged to walk beside on the journey of life. Peace to his memory.
