Truth Comes Riding a Donkey
The Lord is close to the broken-hearted,
To the contrite and last in line,
To they whose lives never truly started
But who invited Christ in to dine.
The Most High came down from above;
From the Godhead he disbanded,
To show that God is full of love
And love comes empty-handed.
He assumed the form of a lowly servant
And bore the curse of Cain.
The life he lived was perfect and fervent,
And his death was not in vain.
The messiah came to be abandoned
By providence above,
To show there’s no shame, when empty-handed,
If one is full of love.
“God Is With Us” is His name,
As well as “King of Kings,”
Yet sans deity He came
To hell and suffering.
Empty-handed but open-armed
And full of truth and grace,
He let himself, by men, be harmed,
Unknown by his own place.
