Mission Meeting Report

Pietists from near and far gathered on Vashon Island, Wash., on Aug. 14 for Pietisten’s first annual Mission Meeting. As the mercury edged over 90 degrees, the crowd gathered under shady trees and an assemblage of tents. Art Mampel recited poetry, Jim Sundholm led the group in prayer, and Mark Swanson, a Pietisten editor and pastor at Wiley Heights Covenant Church, delivered a message for the afternoon. An old-time string band provided musical accompaniment. The service was followed by food and fellowship. Thanks to Hans and Steph Blomgren and Jeff and Heidi HansPetersen for hosting the event.
