Arvid Adell’s article in the Fall/Winter 2013 issue, “Jesus’s calling to become a Cubs fan,” is a gem! As a lifelong Cubs fan…I have shared it with fellow believers. My last eight years of ministry before retirement, I was chaplain and public relations coordinator at Hope Rescue Mission in South Bend, Indiana. When speaking to groups about the ministry of the Mission, someone would inevitably ask during Q and A, “How do you keep your spirits up? Don’t you get discouraged?” My answer would always be, “I’m a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. We don’t win often, but nobody is more faithful and resolute than Cubs fans.”…
