Gunny’s Vanilla Sugar Cookies
(OK to halve this recipe)
Cream:
3 sticks of butter
2 heaping cups of sugar
Mix together with rubber scraper and add to the creamed
mixture:
2 heaping cups flour
2 tsp powdered baking ammonia (can buy at Maid of Scandinavia*)
2 heaping tsp vanilla sugar (can buy at Lund’s, Byerly’s, or Ingebretsen’s*)
Cover. Set out overnight.
Roll into balls.
Bake at 275° to 300° for 10 minutes. Let cool a bit on the cookie sheet.
